Something old...

Pattern:     Ruby by Debbie Bliss from Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Collection
Yarn:          20 sks of Cascade Cash Vero, #031 Light Olive
Needles:    US 8 (5.00 mm)

According to Ravelry I started this project back in August of 2009, which makes it something really old. I realized that I had made a mistake right around the armhole and had to rip back the sideways cable pattern about 5 inches and that just put the whole thing in a big time out! I picked it up periodically, but really went to town on it a few weeks ago and just decided over Christmas that this coat was going to be worn this winter. I modified the sleeves to be smaller and I just love it.

Something new...

Pattern:     Confluence Shawlette by Sivia Harding
Yarn:          2 sks Kollage Yarns, Sock-a-licious, Blue Mist
Needles:    US 5 (3.75 mm)

Back a couple of posts ago, I mentioned something that I had never tried before, but that I could see it changing my knitting forever. The something new is beading and I really had a blast knitting this shawlette. Sivia Harding's design blends just the right amount of lace for me with the right amount of beads. The pattern did call for lace weight, but I am not a huge fan of knitting with lace weight yarn for a couple of reasons. I find it really hard to see and it makes my tendonitis crazy, so I found another perfectly good use for sock yarn!

Something blue...

Well, that beautiful shawlette above!

Love that shawlette (though I hate that word!)  I might have to make one too!  Of course, the sweater is gorgeous too!
