There are many times that I start a new project and think to myself, "I just can't wait to wear this!" or "I just can't wait to give this to mancake to wear." and then the oddest thing happens. All the momentum I first felt at casting on, fizzles and is lost. The item and its accompanying project bag go into deep storage for weeks, months or even years. Here is an assortment of what is languishing on my knitting needles right now and begging to be back in my hands.
A Pullover for Mancake

Pattern: Knitting Nature, by Norah Gaughan
Yarn: Cascade 220 Tweed, 10 Sks Merlot
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm)
Yarn: Cascade 220 Tweed, 10 Sks Merlot
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm)
This one has been on the needles since March of 2010! Sorry M. Mancake picked this design out after I tried convincing him that he wanted a bulky cabled sweater, so he is now waiting patiently. He could be waiting for a while!
A Cardigan for Me

Pattern: Colorstyle, designed by Robin Melanson
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Sport Weight- Lots of colors and some discontinued
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) & US 5 (3.75 mm)
What's that in the center? A steek section? I can't wait to cut into this baby after taking my steeking class from Chris Bylsma at TNNA. I have had to do some ripping on this guy, because following the chart at night is a little challenging for me. I get excited about this one and then I make some giant, stupid mistake and then it goes back into quarantine. Oh yeah, I started this one in January of 2010.

Fingerless Mitts for Me

Pattern: Fingerless Mitts Addition to Susanna Hannson's Bohus Cuffs, by me
Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Fresco, 1 sk #5367 Blue Turquoise
Needles: US 0 & US 1
Last Fall (2010), purlaway had a workshop featuring Susanna Hannson and her amazing Bohus Stickning creations. We got to knit the little cuff above from a kit that Susanna supplied us with and I decided to design a little fingerless mitt addition to her cuff. As you can see, I am still trying to finish the second one!

A Hoodie for Me

Pattern: Knitscene Magazine, Correa Hoodie designed by Amy Polcyn
Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Kumara, 10 sks #5755
Needles: US 9 (5.5 mm)
I really am not sure exactly when I started this, but it was sometime last winter. Kumara is an amazing yarn and I love, love, love this hoodie and I am up to the hood already, so why did this just come to a complete stop? Well, I would have to say work. Designing takes up a lot of time and often the recreational knitting is abandoned for well, work.

And finally!
A Coat for Me

A Coat for Me

Pattern: The Big Easy by Debbie Bliss, Cabled A-line Coat
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Luxury Tweed Chunky, 12 sks light blue teal
Needles: US 10 (6.0 mm) & US 10 1/2 (6.5 mm)
This yarn may look familiar from here. I finally decided what it needed to be and I need a bunch more sks. Luckily, the different dyelots made no difference, because I bought the original batch back in 2009! I actually have picked this back up recently and cannot wait to wear this little beauty this fall. I adore this yarn and everything about it. There may be pictures of this coat up here in the next month if I have my way about it.
I had another project languishing, but it is done and ready for wear, except that it needs one little button sewn on that I bought yesterday, so pictures to follow soon!
Perhaps this confession of my languishing knitting will inspire me to finish some of these projects. Let's hope so.
